Ditanium Dry Herb Desktop Vaporizer Review

vape-comparison-chart-image-8.3.jpg

The Ditanium was first released in 2015, though the company had been manufacturing vapes since 2005.

This unit is similar in many ways to our own Silver Surfer Vaporizer, though the heater is quite different!

Ditanium Desktop Vaporizer

Why we reviewed it

Well, we have made desktop dry herb vaporizers since 2004, and the Ditanium is a worthy contender among desktop vaporizers!

 REVIEW SYSTEM

Built to Order

The Ditanium Vaporizer is manufactured by a small business and it does appear that these desktop vaporizer units are built to order according to what they have available! The manufacturer offers some personalization options which great!

The housings come in a variety of materials with different colors and finishes, though the supply appears to be fairly limited for many of the options it's still nice to have options to choose from!

Upgradable E-nail function

The Ditanium Vaporizer's unique heater design includes the option to vape concentrates from a quartz dab dish which mounts onto the titanium heater cover which is included with the unit.

They also sell additional accessories to enhance your dabbing experience with the Ditanium.

Assembled in USA

The company that makes the Ditanium Vaporizer operates out of Flagstaff, Arizona using components sourced both locally and abroad. This is great to see as this is the same philosophy we follow at Elev8!

The components are assembled at their facility in Flagstaff, and some of the components can be personalized before your order is assembled.

Customizable Parts

As mentioned above, the company that manufacturers the Ditanium Vaporizer offers some personalization options like having the titanium heater cover anodized with a variety of anodization options. As of writing these personalization options are not directly available through their website, it appears that you would have to place your order over the phone to take advantage of these options. We'd like to see such options made standard across their website, but it's better than having no customization options at all!

The Ditanium also uses some glass components with standard glass connections so these could theoretically be personalized as well.

Vape herbs and concentrates

The Ditanium Vaporizer is very capable with both dry herbs and concentrates. Like our own Silver Surfer Vaporizer, it appears that the Ditanium was originally designed for dry herb use but was later adapted/upgraded with the potential for dab functionality.

The Ditanium handles both materials quite well, so we commend them on this!

Long Lasting Ceramic Heating Element

The Ditanium Vaporizer uses an unique heater assembly made from multiple materials. The heating element itself is made of ceramic, but it is encased in a tightly-fitting sleeve of quartz glass, which itself is encased in a large titanium heater cover assembly.

We worry that rough treatment might break the quartz sheathing around the ceramic heating element, but it appears to be quite durable under normal use conditions.

Safe to leave on

Because the heart of the Ditanium Vaporizer is a simple ceramic heating element with a basic control circuit, the Ditanium is perfectly safe to leave on just like our Silver Surfer Vaporizer.

The profile of this unit is also quite stable and we don't really worry about knocking it over, but if we did the titanium heater cover might be of some concern since it could potentially burn anything that comes in direct contact with it.

Hands Free

The Ditanium Vaporizer's glass wand connects to the titanium heater cover with a standard 'ground glass' style connection interface. This means that the wand can be used hands-free. We didn't really experience the wand slipping off of the titanium heater cover, but if that's ever a concern for you we recommend picking up one of our metal Sick Clips!

Direct vapor hit

Since the Ditanium Vaporizer is essentially a classic wand-style vaporizer, it delivers pure and direct hits of convection vapor through its vapor pathway. The wand can be connected to any water pipe with the proper attachments which are sold by the manufacturer.

Factory Designed and built accessories Available

The company which manufactures the Ditanium Vaporizer offers a range of additional accessories for the Ditanium, though the selection is still quite limited. Still, there's no reason that third party accessories couldn't be used since the Ditanium uses standard 'ground glass' style connections.

Quick Warm up 2-5 minutes is solid

Like other convection desktop vaporizers, the Ditanium Vaporizer requires a little bit of a 'warm up' period before it will begin producing vapor. This is due to the nature of these types of devices, and it helps to ensure that you have full control over the temperature of the resulting vapor without risking combusting the material.

Durable Construction with high quality materials

The Ditanium Vaporizer is made partially from locally sourced materials that the company acquires in Flagstaff, Arizona, and partially from materials which are sourced abroad. The materials used (wood/bamboo, ceramic, titanium, quartz glass, and borosilicate glass) are all high quality and feel well-made. This is great to see in an industry that is seemingly always seeking to sacrifice quality for profits. Elev8 commends the Ditanium for the quality of their product!

Energy efficient

Like other desktop convection vaporizers, the Ditanium Vaporizer is excellent in the categories of power consumption and energy efficiency. We do worry that the Ditanium might be slightly less efficient than a unit like our Silver Surfer simply because it uses a large titanium heater cover with a lot of thermal mass. This potentially draws heat away from the herb requiring slightly more wattage to reach the same vaporization temperatures, but we think that if so then this effect is likely negligible compared to our own units. It is certainly one thing to keep in mind though.

Easy to use

The Ditanium Vaporizer is a fairly advanced desktop convection vaporizer, but once you get the hang of using the Ditanium it's actually quite easy to use, in line with any other whip-style desktop vape.

The titanium components can be a bit intimidating at first, and one should certainly be careful not to burn themselves on these components accidentally.

Temperature Control

The temperature control system on the Ditanium Vaporizer is identical to the one that we employ on our own desktop vaporizers. The knob is simple and easy to use, and is much more visually-based than using a digital temperature display like some other desktop units. You find where your sweet spot is and then you can quickly dial back to that sweet spot every time you use the unit!

10single-star-100px-copya.jpg

Warranty

The company that manufactures the Ditanium Vaporizer offers a two year warranty on the unit, which is good though we're sure that anyone would agree that longer is better! Still, two years is plenty of time to be sure that a unit is well-made.
