Modified creations aka Gauge Hamilton is a glass artist who started in Mobile, Alabama. He started 7 years ago with glass etchings and got his name from working in a series of tattoo shops. Modified Creations admires Joey Malaquias and Saiyan Glass for their sculptural work and Steve Boehme for his boundary pushing millies. Gauge says he draws inspiration from classic Venetian style glass work and you can see its influence in his zanfirico cane technique. When asked what colors he'd like to see added to boro pallet Modified replied that a red stardust would be a great addition before explaining that he already mixes his own.
Currently Modified creations is working closely with Doghouse glass out of The DreamStation, a repurposed gas station turned glass studio. When asked he thinks about the future of the glass community, Gauge expressed with great enthusiasm how excited he is to see the new techniques and work to come. Being so committed to your craft has its drawbacks as Modified admits glass has consumed his free time and he's lost interest in most of his other hobbies. I asked Modified if he believed in aliens and what they'd do for a Klondike bar and Modified said he definitely does believe, and that he'd give them one from the freezer after they smoked with him.
