INTERVIEW WITH BURTONI GLASS– A GLASS BLOWING ARTIST BY ELEV8 PRESENTS

Today were interviewing Burtoni an accomplished glass blower from Hawaii who has 10 years of work under his belt. Starting in 2011 at an apprenticeship with simple beads Burtoni learned to work on glass and quickly started doing complex sculptural work for craft shows. After his apprenticeship ended, him an a fellow glassblower started a home studio were Burtoni continued his sculptural work this time introducing hollow forms. Burtoni says he got his name when Micro, Crunkenstien, and Carver B were all together and one of them mentioned Burton would sound much more like an Italian glass blower if he added an I to his last name.

These days Burtoni works and lives in Denver and he still maintains his favorite technique is sculpting. When asked who he looks up to in the glass community, Burtoni responded dryly "Anyone taller than me." Burtoni remains hopeful for the future of the glass community saying that he thinks we have an opportunity to expand as the market opens up to pipe art. Besides glass Burtoni enjoys the ocean, fishing, and video games. Like many glass blowers Burtoni says he believes in aliens and that "they might have to toss a salad first".
