Extreme Q vs Super Surfer: Comparison of Table Top Vaporizers

We did an in-depth comparison between the Arizer Extreme Q and our Super Surfer Vehicle, and while we found a lot to like about both units it was clear that one vaporizer came out on top for its superior versatility. Both of these vaporizers are designed to be used with traditional whip attachments as well as attachments for filling vapor bags, and both units include the necessary parts for these functions, but the Super Surfer Vehicle is the only unit that is designed to be safely used with concentrates. However, the Arizer Extreme Q does perform quite adequately with the functions for which it is designed.

The quality of materials used in the construction of the Arizer Extreme Q cannot be compared to the quality of materials used in the construction of the Super Surfer Vehicle. The Super Surfer Vehicle is a hefty unit assembled in the United States of America and is made from aluminum, steel, and with glass parts made by American glassblowers in Colorado. The Arizer Extreme Q is a lightweight unit made from low-cost plastics and light metals, with thin glass components likely made by foreign artisans. Arizer claims that the Extreme Q is made in Canada, but with no documentation of any production facility publicly available, and with the amount of molded plastics used in this unit, we can't help but be skeptical of that claim. The cords for these units are roughly the same length, approximately 10 feet long.

Even the packaging shows the difference in quality between these two units; the Super Surfer Vehicle comes in a padded carrying bag made from Hempster, a blend of hemp and polyester, with a black velour interior and shoulder strap, and all of the parts needed to vaporize using a whip or bag are included. The Arizer Extreme Q comes in a branded cardboard box and also includes all of the parts needed to vape with a whip or bag.

The controls on these two units are very different; the Super Surfer Vehicle uses two analog potentiometers with a glass knob that you set to your preferred temperature, while the Arizer Extreme Q has a digital temperature display with buttons at the base of the unit and a remote control to adjust the unit on the fly. While the digital temperature display is a more precise control, digital temperature displays are never an accurate representation of the temperature of the air as it passes through the dry herb as there are too many variable factors like ambient air temperature and humidity, as well as the humidity of the vaping material itself. The controls on both units will behave roughly the same, you should always start with a lower setting and then work your way up in increments until you find a setting that works to your liking.

Both units include an aromatherapy attachment for diffusing scents, but the aromatherapy attachment that is included with the Arizer Extreme Q has a hole at the bottom so it can only be used with potpourri or other solid aromatherapy scents like herbs. Essential oils and scented wax melts would leak through this hole and make a big mess. The aroma top for the Super Surfer Vaporizer is a wide, shallow dish that can hold a single square of the commercially available scented wax melt, as well as any essential oil or potpourri that you may want to use in it.

Functionally these two vaporizers perform to roughly the same degree, having attachments for vaping with a whip or a bag and performing these functions admirably. The Arizer Extreme Q uses a bowl attachment piece that is used for both whip and bag vaping, while the Super Surfer Vehicle has separate attachments for these uses. The bowl attachment on the Arizer Extreme Q sits directly on the heating element so it gets very hot, while the Super Surfer Vehicle uses a whip attachment that butts up against a spherical heater cover so it can be easily removed and changed out for a different attachment without burning yourself.

The Arizer Extreme Q's greatest downfall is in its lack of functionality for liquid concentrates like waxes, resins, and rosins. The Super Surfer Vehicle's design allows it to be safely used with a flavor disc in the vapor wand, and there's no risk of overloading the flavor disc because any excess liquid residue will flow downward and away from the heating element. On top of that, the Super Surfer Vehicle can be bundled with an Essential Oil Kit for taking dabs of concentrate from a banger-like attachment, a system that includes a quartz dish that sits directly on the ceramic heating element. The Arizer Extreme Q, in comparison, has its bowl attachment positioned directly over the heating element so while you could theoretically use it with a flavor disc, you would need to be very careful about not allowing the residue to seep down to the heating element below. Beyond this, there does not seem to be any official attachments available for vaping concentrates from the Arizer Extreme Q.

The price points for these units are comparable though the Super Surfer Vehicle does come in a bit higher at $350.00 for a base model unit, and for an additional cost you can get the Essential Oil Kit for dabbing concentrates, and there's also an option to purchase a custom-designed unit with in-house designs or a custom image which the buyer provides. The Arizer Extreme Q sells for $270.00. At that price, we think that customers would be better off spending a little extra money and getting a far more durable, customizable, and versatile desktop vaporizer, and it seems you can't go wrong with the Super Surfer Vehicle.
