Elev8 at 8 with Alderson Glass

Alderson glass has always been kind of a restless spirit. He started blowing glass the same way a lot of people do, he meet a hippie dude at a concert who was already a glassblower. The unnamed hippie and Alderson became friends and Alderson soon found himself himself renting a room from the guy. Alderson was around 18 when he started blowing glass and his first torch was a GTT lynx that he ran on an oxygen concentrator. Today Alderson's known for his disc flips and fillacello designs.

When asked what his work is about and what inspires him, Alderson answered that he couldn't summon the discipline to work a job for someone else. It was only when he forced himself to make a living as a glassblower was he really able to work hard. Maybe I'm not expressing this well, Alderson isn't a difficult or lazy man, he's a true artist. He expressed a growing emotion tension in our interview that revels itself when he is unable to make things. For Alderson its less about the drive to accomplish and more of a kind of therapy he needs to keep him happy. Alderson's work also draws inspiration from where he lived and how he grew up. Coming from montana and growing up on a ranch Alderson drew inspriation form nature, native american culture, and western art, which reveals itself in the form of bull skulls, patterns reminiscent of native American woven blankets.
